About Elisabeth Ullmann

Elisabeth Ullmann, also known as Elisabeth Bigenzahn-Ullmann (born April 20, 1952 in Zwettl) is an Austrian organist and music teacher. Elisabeth Ullmann studied at the Musikhochschule in Vienna, at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Michael Radulescu and Alois Forer. She completed master classes with Marie-Claire Alain and Harald Vogel. She taught from 1979, from 1988 to 2014 as a professor for artistic organ playing, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her students include Georg Oberauer and Hyeonjun Jo. She also teaches in master classes in Europe, Israel, the USA, Canada, China and Hong Kong and acts as a juror at competitions. Ullmann gave concerts as a soloist and together with artists such as Robert Holl, Carole Dawn Reinhart and Ludwig Güttler. In 1983 she initiated the International Organ Festival Zwettl Abbey, which was under her artistic direction until 2008. Ullmann is married to Wolfgang Bigenzahn. The couple lives in Vienna. Their son Johannes Bigenzahn (medical doctor) also works as an organist.
