In a music industry saturated with artists who’ve either lost or compromised their identity, an individual equipped to stand out and impact eternity for the Kingdom of God has emerged. E.Quipped (inspired by the Amplified Version of Hebrews 13:20-21) is a gospel hip-hop artist from Greensboro, NC who combines the uncompromised word of God with Holy Ghost inspired themes, lyricism, melodies and production. He’s shared stages and worked with the “who’s who” of the gospel hip-hop industry including R-Swift, K-Drama, Tony Stone, D-Maub, Knine, Mr. Del, Mars Ill, John Rueben, and many more. At live events featuring E.Quipped, audience members can expect a fusion of passionate, interactive, song performances and the bold ministering of God’s Word. In regards to E.Quipped, industry leading gospel hip-hop website Dasouth.com said, “E.Quipped is not a novice on the Mic, or as a producer….his rhyme schemes are near flawless and the production is clean and clear. If there was such a thing as the poster child for Christian Rap, E.Quipped would be him.” E.Quipped is not only an emcee & producer, but a devoted husband & father, a dedicated employee (at a local foster care agency), a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a servant-leader, a minister of the gospel, and a worshiper of God. Known to his friends and family as Emil Goergen IV, he was raised in a Christian home & received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 4. Discouraged from listening to “secular” music by his parents, he immersed himself in gospel hip-hop at a young age. Pioneers such as PID, SFC, Dynamic Twins, 12th Tribe, Disciples of Christ, and DC Talk provided the soundtrack for E.Quipped’s childhood and inspired him to begin writing & rhyming by the time he was 10. In early 2001, E.Quipped took heed to the command given in Mark 16:15 when he began ministering live with the gospel hip-hop groups Remnant Flame & Eternal Praise. Eternal Praise released two CD’s independently and ministered the gospel throughout NC (and beyond) for several years. In 2006, E.Quipped was led to begin working on his first solo effort, Resurface, and the project was released independently two years later. In response to the album, holyculture.net said “…hip hop lovers beware, the brother has lyrical skills that shine throughout the project. His semi-singing like flow adds a color of musicality that is sometimes lacking in Gospel hip hop nowadays. Speaking of Gospel, this CD could be classified as a handbook to all ministers out there looking for encouragement and instruction on how to live, act and minister according to the Word of God.” On top of his commitment to ministering the word of God through hip-hop, E.Quipped’s primary ministry is that towards his family (wife & son). E.Quipped is extremely passionate about leading his household in the things of the Lord in order to fulfill everything that God has in store for them. Part of that includes a commitment to their local church. He & his family have faithfully served at Harvest World Outreach Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe Coyne for more than 10 years. E.Quipped currently serves full-time in the Children’s Ministry & Usher Departments, but has also devoted time to the altar workers ministry, the youth ministry, and the greeters department. E.Quipped’s project, “Divine Connections & Co-labor-ations” was released on 9/18/10 and features collaborations with some of today’s hottest Christ centered MC’s & producers. When reviewed by Dasouth.com, the album received 4 out of 5 stars. His latest release, "The MC Mixtape" is set for release early 2012. It marks yet another step in E.Quipped’s mission to “utilize God inspired hip-hop to equip lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ” as he strives daily to “win souls, make disciples, and carry the message of faith and God’s glory to the world!”
