The beginning. 23.20. It was a warm spring night. Some couples were walking through the nighttime avenues. Someone was on his way back home, others were just setting about somewhere. But still every single face were lit up with a kind of ineradicable smile of the evening USSR happiness... In the meanwhile in a small province in the eastern part of a country which is in the center of Europe quite an ordinary event happened - the next mother gave birth to the next baby-boy... After some necessary procedures she took the baby in her arms kissing this 4 kg of pure happiness and fast fell asleep. Years went by. A boy were growing up not with days but with chords. From the very kindergarten he was charming but maybe annoying everybody’s ear around singing and playing his toy piano all the way. 30 years flew by and here he is. One of the arrangers, who by his age has successfully worked with almost every performing singer in the country, with the most famous, middling, and young rising stars among them. As a composer he is one of those who has written few things, but all of them are in the “top ten”. One day a friend let him listen to the next CD and this was a soundtrack from an american movie. He had already listened to plenty of that kind before, but this one seemed to be very different. Either the sound has a very special flavor or the music itself brought some very familiar things to him... But with the very first beats he seemed to be stoned...,the cubes in his mind swiftly began to stack together taking its peculiar music shape, and this was the first step in the decision to devote himself to classical music from now on... Namely to music for movies. The thing he heard that day was written as if it was him who wrote it, to be more precise, by me - a man which was born with this music sounding in his mind... And now, let me introduce myself. My name is Boris Kukoba. I would like to share some details of who i am. What i can do. 1.To make music or more exactly to create feelings and associations in people’s minds with a help of music. Lets get a bit closer to the process. How do things work: first, one have to write an original melody, either along with a finally edited movie or independently. The next step is to harmonize it. using sound libraries and computer we turn this melody into the awesomely arranged sound flow. This can be made along with a movie or independently. Also we have a wide range of choice in music styles: from classical to ethnic. The use of the musical instruments is limited only with your fantasy. The final sound quality may be up to 96 kHz, 24 bits. next we print notes of the arrangement and begin the rehearsals with an orchestra. This can be both a full size orchestra or a chamber orchestra. When the movie has been finally edited and the orchestra is ready to play, we record the orchestra in a special recording studio. The demonstration of the movie to a conductor of the orchestra is possible during the recording process. and finally the magician arranger mixes all the tracks into the final product. And voila - the most beautiful of all soundtracks ever is ready! To organize all stated above into the one authentic creative process in which the best composers and arrangers would work over the music. All these people are high-class professionals with huge experience and their own multiple credits. I always try to cooperate with the best specialists only, who eventually form what i call my team. Business. I’m not gonna tell you that i have an MBA in show business cause i just don’t have it. Don’t even know if its a valid thing considering show business, but i would love to get it anyway. In addition I can say that almost every day i get to know a lot of new stuff from such not so pleasant but extremely important sphere of our life as business. Often it is very difficult to find a place for your own genuine creativity expression as long as you are in partnership and business, where almost everything is measured with money. Cause creativity is the process, which implies the presence of human factor. It is, in fact the absolute embodiment of human factor itself. Maybe if you ever had an experience of working with an artist, writer or musician, you can recollect how often they can appear tired or exhausted and being sorry for not finishing the work in time cause of inspiration absence. And as a result you faced a deadlock. Cause on the one hand - you have a deadline to finish the film production, on which the whole budget depends, on the other hand - there is a composer, who won’t make anything worth-while being under pressure. If a business inevitably have to do with creativity as mine business in fact, there is a need to take into account all these aspects. As i always try to do. I usually look for the most appropriate motivation to suit people i work with. And, as a rule, i do find it. During my 10 -year experience i managed to find the right techniques in this delicate question. The great thing is not to go to extremes. If my clients are talented and creative people its always a great pleasure to work with them. Me and my team are always welcome to cooperate with new interesting people. Either in business or in creative projects particularly. Music is a set of special sounds arranged according the specific scheme. And these sounds in their turn consist of specially ordered acoustic wave. All these components create an incredible symphony of feelings and emotions, that is so hard to explain with words only. Influences. As every single man in this world i am influenced by too many things, almost everything that surrounds me. Women, money, cars, weapons, inflation, politics, friends, enemies, “world conspiracy”;-). As well as sky and sun, air and soil, fire and the bitter truth, water and the sugary lie, dramaturgy of cinematography, and still many more prominent things and outstanding or not so outstanding people. Everything i feel, see and hear leaves traces in my mind as if it was a vivid sparkling dust, which in the right moment later on forms fanciful designs. The parts of the dust raising up, moving and spinning around attract each other as if in accord with some special program. This is the very program which an audience can hear afterwards. But in music form already. One dips into the ocean of music and from here begins the magic process of dreams creation. I was, am and i always will be influenced by music of Antonio Vivaldi, Ludwig van Beethoven, Piotr Tchaikovsky, Johann Sebastian Bach and some other classical composers. I was as well considerably influenced by a contemporary american composer and arranger James Newton Howard. This is him who is the author of the music which once inspired me to write classical things. The music exactly was from the “American Beauty” movie. My goals. First of all i want to be healthy and happy for all my life. I am sure so you do. And another important thing i would like - is that we do could be left in the mankind history. I wish the music we create would leave its amazing influence upon people’s hearts, evoking beauty in their souls. Try to recollect yourself while sitting in the movie theatre watching a dramatic scene. And now imagine how deep were your feelings due to the music in the scene. The importance of the music in a movie can scarcely be exaggerated. If the music makes you cry or laugh, feel proud or anxious, makes you feel a part of the events or lets you get the overall impression of the final battle, that means the main goal is achieved. Along with a director and a scriptwriter i aim to touch the right chords of an audience. And use them to play the most beautiful music ever. This is the main purpose of mine and of all people i work with - authors, producers, writers, composers... However this world changes, whatever the music becomes, it will always make people laugh and cry, sad and happy... As it did in past, present and will do at all times...
