About Dogs Must Be Carried

Dogs Must Be Carried is a comedy music collective started by Richard Cray in 1998, largely to put the fun back into music - but also because the telly was crap, money was scarce and he didn't have a girlfriend, and thus had a considerable amount of spare time on his hands. The collective records original comedy songs, pastiches of certain artists and direct parodies of songs, and has even been known to try its hand at the occasional mutant cover version. Initially, recordings were made for the amusement of friends. However, in early 2003, DMBC successfully corrupted their target demographic when their track United Kingdom of Whenever received airplay on Christian O'Connell's XFM breakfast show, Steve Lamacq’s shows on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music and the legendary Dr. Demento show in the US.
