Diane Dane was a fictional character played by actress Chaille Percival (youtube video) in the 1996 motion picture That Thing You Do! Fictional background: Diane Dane had five Top 10 singles including the smash “Morning For Mourning”, three hit LPs and her own short-lived television variety show, making her not only the reigning queen of Teenage Sob Songs but also Play-Tone Artist of the Year in 1959. Though absent from the charts since 1962 with “Hurry Summer Sunday”, "My World Is Over" returned Diane to the Top 20 for three weeks.
