About Dezibel Biest
Dezibel Biest is a punk rock band from the Oldenburg area in Lower Saxony, Germany, founded in 2016 in Sandkrug. The band plays punk rock with influences from alternative rock and German rock (Deutschrock), performing exclusively with German-language lyrics. They are primarily active on stages in northern Germany. In 2016, four musicians from the Oldenburg area came together to form Dezibel Biest. Vocalist and guitarist Pat and bassist Todd had already made music together in previous projects. Lead guitarist Andi and drummer Köhrmann completed the founding lineup. The band quickly gained momentum, writing new songs and booking their first live shows across the region. In 2018, as the band was preparing to record their debut album at the Soundlodge studio in Rhauderfehn, they suffered a severe blow: lead guitarist Andi died unexpectedly. The planned recordings were initially cancelled, as the remaining members stepped back from music in the immediate aftermath. After a period of mourning, the remaining trio decided to continue making music, in part as a tribute to Andi, who had co-written all of the band's songs. The recording sessions at Soundlodge resumed, and in 2019 the debut album Dreiviertel (11 tracks) was released. The album marked both a memorial to the lost bandmate and a new beginning for the group. From May 2019 onward, Dezibel Biest continued with a new lineup. In 2021, the band released their second studio album Die Geister die du riefst, again recorded at Soundlodge. The album includes tracks such as Unsterblich, Hell, Sommer unseres Lebens, Nie im Weg, Gauner und Ganoven, Alte Liebe rostet nicht, and the title track Die Geister die du riefst. That same year, Dezibel Biest performed at the Rock For Animal Rights 2021 festival, reaching a wider audience beyond their local circuit. Following several lineup changes on guitar and drums, the band announced a new but familiar formation in 2024: drummer Kai and guitarist Bernd, both long-time associates and former members, officially returned. The core duo of Pat (vocals/guitar) and Todd (bass) remained the constant foundation of the band. At the end of 2024, Dezibel Biest returned to Soundlodge to record new material. In 2025, the band released several singles, including Kein Zurück, Support Your Locals, and Panzer unterm Weihnachtsbaum. Dezibel Biest play straightforward, energetic punk rock with exclusively German-language lyrics. The band is frequently compared to German punk and rock acts such as Die Toten Hosen, Broilers, Dritte Wahl, and Rogers. Their sound combines driving guitar work with a solid rhythmic foundation, aiming for accessible yet substantial songwriting.
