About DOWZER

Dowzer… …is a three-piece pop punk outfit from Roosendaal, a small town at the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Dowzer officially started in April 2007 when Deny Putman (vocals + guitar), Sandra Heeren (vocals + bass) and Rik Hagens (vocals + drums) decided to quit their old band and start from scratch with a more poppy approach and the use of vocal harmonies. Their first year contained writing a lot of songs and playing the first small shows. After that first year Dowzer released ‘Concrete Smiles At Aisle Five’, a 12 song debut full length, in may 2008 (and is available through Waterslide Records, Japan since 2009) and appeared on a compilation cd of Kick Ass Records together with TIAS and many others. After that Dowzer worked hard to get an amount of shows and they didn’t stop writing new songs either. Dowzer has shared the stage with bands as Streetlight Manifesto, Mike TV, The Living Daylights, The Apers, Gino’s Eyeball and played venues and festivals in Holland, Belgium and Germany. Dowzer’s influences range from Motion City Soundtrack to A Wilhelm Scream. Blended together you get Inspection 12 meets the Descendents meets Teen Idols (well... that's what we think and what some people told us...) In December of this year (2009) Dowzer will storm the studio (Studio195: recorded bands as The Apers, Travolta’s, Dead Stop) again to record their sophomore record! ‘Concrete Smiles’ shows a band that’s eager to experiment with lots of influences. Their next record will show a more solid blend of all those influences which creates more of an own sound of pop punk filled with vocal harmonies and not the standard 3 chord song writing. Dowzer also has more to say in their lyrics than heartbreaks or brainless anthems like ‘drink beer and party hard’. They sing about living in a small town without a future and the dumb, drunk, lying, betraying, lazy people they have to bear with almost every day.
