About CultureSHOC

CultureSHOC is an all Palestinian, from Jerusalem, 6 member band, which appeared on the Palestinian Music Scene in August 2008. CultureSHOC consists of two guitarists, Ahmad Al-Sharif (music Composer and Arranger, lead guitarist) and Ivan Azazian( Second Guitar and Backup Vocals). Amer Yaghmour is the Bass Player; Suleiman Harb the band’s Rapper, Amira B. Dibsy, the Vocalist and the Drummer is Khaldoun Abu Nijmeh. The band Compose and arrange their Own songs. Creating CultureSHOC was an initiative taken by Ahmad, Suleiman and Amira, all of whom are Palestinian but have lived abroad at a certain point. The three thought the time had come to bring something new to the Palestinian music scene, attempting to steer clear from a political affiliation, they wanted to use music to reach to people, to elevate spirits and create a healthy outlet, where music would have no boundaries! The Band Name (CultureSHOC) seemed perfect, as the Band is a Rock-Rap band that fuses Rock music with Rap music, quite unlike anything on the music scene in Palestine and that the majority of the songs are in English. The band personalized its name by removing the k and making it one word, easy for recognition and searches be it online or otherwise. CultureSHOC aim to spread out in the country as much as possible and then spread further, it is vital for them that their music is heard among the people of Palestine and that they are known as an Original Palestinian Band first and foremost. In June 2010 CultureSHOC performed, as guest of honor, at the Turkish Vision Festival in Denizli Turkey, the band’s First International appearance. The band has also shared one of their songs “Coins in their Pockets” with Amnesty International’s music project PEACE and their song “TRAFFIC” to Jordan’s Jeeran Music Productions, for the Best hits in the Arab World region for rising bands.
