About Cruelty Free

www.crueltyfreemusic.com Cruelty Free has a sound in the vein of the Foo Fighters and Incubus. They seem to have two polar opposites in their approach; one a poppy upbeat sound similiar to Jimmy Eat World, the other more somber/dark like A Perfect Circle or Filter. It's hard to define but they obviously love pop, rock, metal and indie equally. There's also something 80s in their sound that I cannot put my finger on. Also, the lead singer, Corey Bates, seems to approach his vocals very differently as well. For example, they have a bonus track, Echoes, that shows up on their EP sometimes on which he belts out "human echoes!" but then you listen to Spring Meets Summer and he almost whispers the verses. Lastly, you will listen to one track and think 90's alternative like STP but then listening to Fall, also on Head South, there's a ripping guitar solo that makes you think 80s (or 2008 80's revival i.e. Avenged Sevenfold). Basically, they're hard to pigeon-hole sound-wise. To date they have two releases; Head South their EP and a single on Dane Cook's Tourgasm soundtrack. Their music is featured on tv/film/commercials.
