About Cinco de Gatos
Cinco de Gatos was a post hardcore band from Chicago, Illinois that existed from 1994 to 1996. They played their first show on January 5th 1995 at Skipper's house with Thumbnail, Felt, and The Sky Corvair. They contributed songs to the "Ground Rule Double comp, the "Ooh Do I Love You" comp and the "Emo Scheemo" 7" comp. Also appear on the Braid album Frankie Welfare Boy Age Five as one of the snippets of music between tracks. They recorded an album called "Epiphany Wants To Come Home" at Steve Albini's house with Tar's bass player Tom Zaluckyj for the Action Boy label but was never released. They often shared the stage with bands such as Cap'n Jazz, Braid, Karate, Make Up, Shellac, Monitor Radio, The Scissor Girls and Kerosene 454 among others. Singer/guitar player Jonathan Scott went on to form the Doleful Lions and has released 7 albums on Parasol Records. Bass player Jason Dummeldinger went on to play bass in the band Red Eyed Legends and Silverbacks. Past members include Dan Sullivan [[artist]Screeching Weasel, Beulah], Kim Ambriz, [[artist]Rabbit Rabbit, Sur La Mer] Andy Kuharich [[artist]Silverbacks, Mannequin Hand, Spastic Rats, Ersa Miner], Scott Ames, [[artist]Ersa Miner] Brian Peterson (the guy that booked Fireside Bowl), Ryan Rapsys [[artist]Heroic Doses, Gauge, Euphone] Cinco de Gatos reformed in late 2009 and broke up for good in the summer of 2010 after a few shows and a new recording which remains unreleased.
