About Cartoonist Kayfabe

Cartoonist Kayfabe is a YouTube channel and podcast founded in 2018 focusing on comic books hosted by cartoonists Ed Piskor (Hip-Hop Family Tree) and Jim Rugg (Street Angel) with occasional third chair host Tom Scioli (Godland). The channel started with a particular focus on viewing the comics industry through the lens of early issues of Wizard Magazine and the hosts respective childhood entry in reading the comic book medium. The channel has since broadened it's horizons talking about all sorts of comics from alternative, mainstream, classic, and current eras while continuing their chronological coverage of Wizard Magazine, focusing on key creator interviews in The Comics Journal magazine, spotlights on certain series, single issues, and creators, as well as in depth creator interviews that they dub "Shoot Interviews" (which like their show name is a nod to wrestling lingo of the past). Notable guests have included artists Bill Sienkiewicz, Tim Vigil, Jaime Hernandez, Todd McFarlane, Dave Gibbons, Stephen Bissette, Brendan McCarthy, Howard Chaykin, Rick Veitch, Kevin Eastman, Rob Liefeld, Adrian Tomine, writers Chris Claremont, Robert Kirkman, publishers Gary Groth, Chris Pitzer as well as retailers Bill Boichel, Jason Hamlin, and musician Gerard Way, among many others.
