About By All Means Necessary
BIO: By All Means Necessary (BAMN) is a blazing Los Angeles based rock band that is on the cusp of national prominence. In less than two years, they have produced three CDs, which have all been positively reviewed, developed a fervent and thriving fan base with aggressive viral marketing tactics, and operated their own weekly residency at a Hollywood night club. BAMN has appeared at some of the largest and most prestigious venues in the western United States. Their 2006 tour kicked off at the storied Roxy Theatre on Jan 18, and they played to packed houses through the summer. Tour highlights include BAMN being asked to headline the launch concert for the world famous Los Angeles radio station 106.7 KROQ’s Hawaiian Tropics Giveaway, and making a promotional appearance on the Wells Fargo stage at the Vans Warped Tour at Dodger Stadium. This past fall BAMN embarked on a daunting endeavor that no other L.A. rock band had attempted. They utilized their rabid fan base and Hollywood connections to create their own hard rock club “Amplify Wednesdays” in West Hollywood. The band handled all aspects of the nightclub including booking, promotions, audio and light production, merchandise, management, and operations. The band was able to establish a real connection with both other bands and their fans by showcasing their amazing live show every week and providing an opportunity for rock fans to be exposed to new acts. In addition to creating and running “Amplify”, the band also tracked their third record, “Left Out In The Open” at Hollywood Sound with producer Tomas Costanza (formerly of Diffuser, Hollywood Records). Before recording with BAMN, Costanza worked alongside acclaimed producers such as Don Gilmore, (Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Eve 6) Mark Trombino, (Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Finch) and Steve Albini (Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, P.J. Harvey). Over the last year, FANmanager Marketing & Promotions of Beverly Hills has orchestrated an international street team campaign. Utilizing a guerilla/word-of-mouth marketing approach, BAMN has been building a buzz on the streets, at special events, and on the internet. Currently, BAMN is a featured band on DirecTV’s “CD 101.” In addition to their national television exposure, they have also secured airplay on over 687 FM and Internet radio stations with a listenership of over 125 million throughout the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Australia. BAMN’s first single “In The Clear” has been heard in the Los Angeles area on Indie 104.7FM, CRNI 107.3FM and on IRADIO LA 88.5FM. Vocalist Matt Diehm has also been a featured guest on World Talk Radio in San Diego and Wicked Grin Radio in Atlanta. Recently he was featured on American Idol’s “Vocal Help Now!” This instructional DVD, which was released worldwide, features BAMN’s second single, “I Was Wrong” and showcases Matt, alongside American Idol vocal coach Deborah Byrd, teaching audiences how to sing and scream like a pro. BAND BIO: Striking Los Angeles with the ferocity of a 9.0 earthquake, By All Means Necessary has shaken the Hollywood music scene to its core. Aggressively challenging the carbon copy state of rock music, they offer a shimmering sliver of hope in today’s bleak and repetitive marketplace. All four band members have successfully fused their diverse and unique musical backgrounds to create a truly memorable listening experience. The band’s beginning is a tale of two halves. The first half traces back to the summer of 2000. Vocalist Matt Diehm and guitarist Chris Johansen met while working together in Washington, D.C. Their mutual love of both punk and metal led them to begin writing and collaborating together. Matt moved to Southern California in 2001 to pursue his music career. Chris was not far behind, relocating to Los Angeles in 2003. As soon as Chris arrived he began writing and rehearsing with Matt once again. After they felt their material was ready, they began to hunt for a rhythm section. The second half of the band started in 2001, when drummer Greg Gerber and bassist Lorenzo Perea found themselves playing together in the band Citizen of the Empire. They enjoyed moderate success releasing an album and touring Southern California. Feeling that Citizen had reached its potential, Greg and Lorenzo began searching for a new and more versatile venture. In 2005 these two halves became whole. Matt and Chris united with Greg and Lorenzo and quickly developed their self titled E.P. That summer, the band began playing numerous shows in Los Angeles, and swiftly developed a thriving, loyal fan base. Rapidly word spread about By All Means Necessary and the band took their aggressive and dynamic live performances to stages across the western United States. Now BAMN has has recently released their third recorded release, “Left Out In The Open”, and plan to follow it with a nationwide tour.
