Black Tiger Sex Machine, often abbreviated BTSM, are a Canadian electronic music trio based in Montreal, Quebec, consisting of Marc Chagnon, Julien Maranda and Patrick Barry. BTSM specialize in aggressive, dark electronic music, as well as a live show that extends beyond a typical DJ performance. The trio are The group wear illuminated tiger helmets during their live shows. During the live shows they utilize a central mixer, drum machines, launchpads and keyboards, with a lighting setup that is synced with their music, including the LED lighting on their tiger helmets. BTSM were already world-traveling artists before their rise to stardom, which began with their first string of shows in the United States in 2015. In 2016, they released their debut album, Welcome To Our Church, which The Huffington Post hailed as “one of the best electronic albums of the year.” They’ve since gone on several successful headlining tours across North America and received notable festival bookings for 2017 including a highly anticipated return to Electric Forest, as well as appearances at EDC Las Vegas, Lollapalooza Paris, Paradiso and Shambhala. The trio are the label heads for Kannibalen Records, which has signed such artists as Kai Wachi, Apashe, Dabin and Lektrique. Kannibalen Records has been recognized worldwide through major publication partnerships with Netflix, Marvel, NBA, HBO, MTV, UFC, adidas, Samsung and more.
