Everything starts with the Doi-Codi in 1988, but not the militar police of subversive repression from Brasil's recent past, but the band of Demétrius and Cláudio who lived in the same bulding and studies at the San José Colégio. Both have the same age, many musical afinities and becouse the name used, they beggins to receive some media attention. But depite this press attentions they decided to change theyr name : being Flintstones and them start to be professionals (that's in 1990). The Beach Lizards come out of the sand at the beggining of 1991. The name come trought a newspaper editorial witch talks about the little pet above. Almost extincted the Lizard from the Beach today is just found at beachs in the south of Rio de Janeiro. The line up was Demétrius (lead vocal), Cláudio and Marcos (guitars), Laercio (bass) and Túlio (drums) they do a heavy sound, with lots of influences of punk rock and heavy metal!!! After few gigs, they start to form their own public and with some music they recorded and release their 1st. demotape - Piercing Ears with 4 songs. Heavy songs with melodies! Now they book more shows, now in better and bigger places as Garage and the Circo Voador and their songs played at Rádio Fluminense FM. But depite all is going fine, and before almost an year playing toghether, Túlio decide to quit and Marcos whose is not very interested leaves the band too. Doors was openned to André Nervoso (ex-Stupid Nerv). After a lot of work was time to record a new demotape, their 2nd. - Waiting Room. Band members was more in tune witch each other, the sound goes faster and influenced by punk rock, this was their best demotape since their beggining, with it they're be more knowed and reconigzed! With their shows, many good words from the local press and, specifically, after the Festival Multimídia do Canecão (produced by Jorge Salomão and were also played X-Rated and Big Trep), POLVO Discos start to deal with band to put out what was the first full album from Beach Lizards- Brand New Dialog. Those recordings was produced by Ronaldo Pereira (from today's legendary Estúdio Groove) and Aurélio Kauffmann at the studio Uptown, in Rio de Janeiro, between january and may 1994. The artwork from the album was produced by grafic artist Cavalcante (from O GLOBO) that have donne a fantastic work! And they went to the road after the release of the CD: Campinas, Curitiba, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte ... but two special moments that Beach Lizards wont forget: the chances to do the opening shows for 2 big International acts, that's all of then enjoys: Fugazi> and (putting a happy end in an old "impossible" dream from Demétrius) Buzzcocks. In august 1994 was, finally released the CD - Brand New Dialog that have suprised the press to produce 2 different versions for the same record where one of then (to the press, just 400 CDs) comes with some of the orginals versions from band's demotapes - "Waiting Room" and the, now famous, Eletronic Press Kit that have knocked everybody out, and it's was new (the very first made in Brasil!) and was donne by the small POLVO Discos!8-))))! Brand New Dialog have 12 tracks (plus 5 bonus!) in near an hour with the most pure melodic hardcore in the better tradiction of big bands as Bad Religion, Green Day, Nirvana with Beatles! At the beggining of 96 they was pointed by the Editor of american magazine The Music Paper as 1995 record of year. Who knows this will be the year of their international debut? Just be in tune with the Beach Lizards.
