About Astral Chill
For the past handful of summers, Paul Eggleston (Architectural Metaphor, Bionaut) and Kris Thompson (The Prefab Messiahs, Abunai!, Twilight Tipi, etc.) have hauled their synths, theremins and assorted gadgets (and a gas-powered generator!) into a Vermont forest to set up their theme camp at the Firefly arts festival. "Camp Astral Chill" is the late-night oasis where they (along with various collaborators) have unfurled many an evocative flight of inner-spatial drone dimensioneering. The cauldron of sound, mingling with laser insect simulations on the encircling pine bowers above it, has made for some unusually heady times. In 2016, for the first time ever, Paul & Kris assembled outside the forest--at Artisan's Asylum in Somerville MA--where many of Firefly's art and construction projects are dreamt up and assembled. Joining in at intervals were Ranger Deviant, James Arthur, and Luke C Stark on an array of various electronics and software.
