About Anti-Motivational Syndrome

Anti-Motivational Syndrome is a Polish progressive band from the Tri-City area, which recently released its work titled “The Corridor”. The project was formed a few years ago on the initiative of several musicians - friends, who decided to fulfill their musical aspirations with this lineup. At first they were only casual meetings, and the music began to take a closer shape only after the last link - a vocalist - was added. It wasn't long before the concept of an album called “The Corridor” emerged. Thanks to the favor of a few well-wishers, in October 2009 the band, together with producer Piotr Łukaszewski (former guitarist of the group IRA, currently leader of the Tricity band Ptaky), began work on recording the debut album, which was crowned with mastering at Radio Gdańsk in the spring of 2010. The band's founder is drummer Marcin Golebiewski, best known for the formation Yattering. Alongside him, the group is made up of bassist Artur Olkowicz (musician of the bands Na Ostatnią Chwilę and eM), guitarists Piotr Pastwa and Mateusz Machnikowski, and vocalist Dariusz Giers (The Mollusk). Contrary to the prevailing belief that a good album can only be recorded in a professional studio, the Anti-Motivational Syndrome musicians made the recordings in their own rehearsal room. Initially, the album was to be released in March, but it finally happened only on May 23, 2011. The group self-released the album “The Corridor”. It is a very emotional album, and it can be said that the Anti-Motivational Syndrome group is starting from a high suspended bar in the music market. This is hardly surprising seeing its lineup. I only hope that the formation will not disappear into the thicket of others and, next to Riverside, will be our strong national ace. On the album we have six - not including the twenty-second intro - relatively long compositions. The music is not trivial, it is served appropriately, conceptually thought out. Each composition has something different to offer, and the whole is arranged into a coherent, nearly hour-long disc telling down-to-earth stories, struggles and pains of choosing the right path. The band presents interesting vocals and drum playing at a very high level. There is space on the album and there is an avalanche of interesting sounds.
