About Ancylus
The man behind Ancyclus says: My musical "career" begun already in the mid-90's when I was forced to sing in front of our class. Some years later my parents wanted me to take piano lessons and my teacher made me a drummer for the school band. Obviously, I was a talented pianist, drummer and singer - just not keen on performing in front of an audience. I quit the piano lessons after a couple of years but some fragments of my skills still exist. I still play these instruments with various line-ups. In 1999 I discovered the wonderful world of tracker music when installing FastTracker II. I later changed it into Modplug Tracker due to compatibility problems with my OS (the agonizing Win95). Soon after that I also bought my first (and currently the only) very own keyboard, Yamaha CS1x, which is still in active use. I still use tracker for some things but I mainly do recording and sequencing with Sound Forge, Fruity Loops and Audacity. Why did I choose ambient? At first I didn't, although I liked it having had heard it in the wonderful radio program Avaruusromua, hosted by Jukka Mikkola. Still my music was more goa-trance oriented, but shortly after some experimentations with my synth and a simple drum loop I felt like having found my "own" genre. At the same time I was also getting familiar with the industrial scene which I have been lately following more or less closely. Ancylus, besides my other projects, is also a way of expressing very personal emotions, views and thoughts. Still, I hope that Ancylus' music will give everyone different kinds of visions and moods.'
