It was after years of individual genre-hopping, bong smashing, monkey-slapping madness, when in early 2002 guitarist and vocalist Mike Miller and drummer Dario Amati (both formerly of Willis Afro) approached bassist Anton Jarrett (The Fangs) and guitarist Justin Dare (Roobenkarta) to combine their passion of creating and performing music. It took just one jam session and they knew they were creating something special. You could even say that these modern day cavemen had the rock, before they had the wheel and most importantly, they were bloody well prepared to use it. Nay, to wield it violently like their primitive ancestors before them And with that, was the (re) birth of... ANCIENT MAN who today is a heavy rock band incorporating the fuzzy tones of stonerrock with the punch of punk. The bands unique sound is achieved through a combination of rumbling, rolling, blues-laden riffs, heavy textured guitars, brown noise bass, walloping drums and smooth melodic vocals. The solid four piece have a minimum of ten years experience in the Australian music scene and have shared the stage with Rollerball, BUDD, The Hard-Ons, Cockfight Shootout, The Black Stars, Fort, Interstater, Bob Sledge and most recently consecutive dates with The Fauves, and Giants of Science as one of the headlining acts at Australias infamous stoner punk rock fest, Devils Kitchen. Although all members have their own diverse musical interests, they are most heavily influenced by each other. ANCIENT MAN have currently been recording and producing their debut album.
