About 21 SAVAGE

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (born 22 October 1992), known professionally as 21 Savage, is a British-born rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in London and raised in the United States, he began his recording career in 2013 and released three independent mixtapes that received regional attention. His first major commercial breakthrough came with the collaborative extended play "Savage Mode" (2016), recorded with producer Metro Boomin, which peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. The EP produced the singles "X" (featuring Future) and "No Heart", both of which reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Later in 2016, he gained further recognition through a guest appearance on Drake’s single "Sneakin'". He signed a recording contract with Epic Records in January 2017. 21 Savage released his debut studio album, "Issa Album", in 2017, where it peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Bank Account", reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year, he released the collaborative album "Without Warning" with Metro Boomin and rapper Offset, and appeared as a featured artist on Post Malone’s single "Rockstar", which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and received nominations for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. His second studio album, "I Am > I Was" (2018), became his first release to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 and included the single "A Lot" (featuring J. Cole), which won Best Rap Song at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. In 2020, he and Metro Boomin released "Savage Mode II", a sequel to their earlier EP, which also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced the top-ten singles "Runnin" and "Mr. Right Now" (featuring Drake). He later appeared on Drake’s 2022 single "Jimmy Cooks", which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. That year, he and Drake released the collaborative album "Her Loss", which also reached number one on the Billboard 200. His third studio album, "American Dream" (2024), became his fourth consecutive chart-topping project and included the top-ten singles "Redrum" and "Née-Nah". In February 2019, 21 Savage was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which revealed that he was a British citizen who had entered the United States in July 2005 and overstayed a visa that expired in 2006. He was released on bond later that month while deportation proceedings were pending, and the case was subsequently postponed indefinitely. In 2023, he became a lawful permanent resident of the United States and was granted a green card.
